The Transformation Mask series represents a distinctive chapter in modern Japanese Pokémon collecting, showcasing the hobby's evolution toward experimental presentation and elevated artwork. Released in 2024, this set marked a departure from traditional design, emphasizing alternative rarity designations and illustrator-focused cards that appealed to both longtime collectors and newcomers seeking fresh creative directions. Dipplin, the evolution of Applin, appears here as an Art Rare—a category celebrating imaginative interpretations over standard card templates. Collectors are drawn to Art Rares for their gallery-quality presentation, which transforms individual cards into display pieces that reflect the artistic potential of the Pokémon Trading Card Game medium.
