Scarlet & Violet represents a pivotal moment in Pokémon TCG history, arriving as the franchise's ninth generation debut in 2023. The set launched a new era of Pokémon cards with fresh mechanics and design philosophies, capturing collectors' attention during a period when the hobby remained exceptionally active. These early SV releases are now recognized as foundational to modern collecting, establishing aesthetic and gameplay standards that defined the generation. Mabosstiff, the evolved form of the new regional dog companion, appears here as a secret rare—a chase card that extends beyond the set's standard numbering. Collectors pursue secret rares for their rarity, premium artwork, and status as subset highlights. This card represents the desirability of early ninth-generation Pokémon in their alternate rare printings.
