Expedition Base Set arrived in 2002 as one of the earliest modern Pokemon TCG releases, marking a transitional period when the hobby was rebuilding after years of dormancy. The set introduced a fresh visual direction with its exploration theme and became foundational for collectors rediscovering the game during its resurgence. Expedition remains a gateway set for vintage collectors seeking early-2000s Pokemon cards with meaningful history. Alakazam represents one of the set's most iconic psychic powerhouses, the final evolution of a beloved starter line. The holographic treatment captures the Pokemon's otherworldly presence beautifully, making it a natural draw for players and collectors alike. Strong stage-three evolutions like this defined the competitive metagame of the era and continue attracting those building collections from this formative period.
