Ruby & Sapphire arrived in 2003 as the third EX-era set, expanding the TCG into the beloved Hoenn region just as the video games captivated millions. The set introduced dynamic new mechanics and memorable artwork that defined early-2000s Pokémon collecting. Reverse holos from this era remain sought-after for their distinctive sparkle pattern and nostalgic appeal to players and collectors alike. Mightyena, the fierce Dark-type evolution line flagship, represents the Hoenn dex's edgier aesthetic. The reverse holo treatment enhances the card's visual impact, making the dynamic artwork particularly striking. Collectors value Hoenn Pokémon from this foundational set as key pieces of their collections, especially in alternate finishes.
