Breakthrough arrived in late 2015 as a pivotal set bridging the XY and XY BREAK eras of Pokemon TCG. It introduced the BREAK mechanic, a new evolution style that expanded strategic deckbuilding possibilities and reinvigorated competitive play during a strong period for the hobby. The set balanced powerful cards with solid trainer support, making it a foundation set for players and collectors alike during one of the game's most dynamic years. Simisage, the mischievous Grass-type primate, appears here in reverse holographic treatment with vibrant artwork capturing the Pokemon's playful nature. Reverse holos from Breakthrough remain popular with collectors seeking the aesthetic appeal of full-art sparkle without the premium of true holos, making this accessible version a satisfying pull for set builders and casual enthusiasts.
