Obsidian Flames arrived in 2023 as one of the core releases that sustained the Pokemon TCG through a period of sustained collector enthusiasm. The set continued the game's modern era aesthetic while maintaining the trading and gameplay elements that kept both casual and serious players engaged. It represented the franchise's comfortable position as a cultural touchstone well into the post-pandemic trading card renaissance. Charmander remains one of the most iconic Pokemon across all mediums, and this holographic version captures the character with appealing artwork and vibrant detail. As a low-numbered common from Obsidian Flames, it represents the foundation of set completion for collectors and players alike, while the holo treatment elevates it beyond basic utility.
