# Card Notes Challenge from the Darkness stands as one of the defining Japanese sets of the late 1990s Pokémon TCG boom. Released in 1999, this era represents the hobby's golden age—when Pokémon cards were experiencing explosive popularity and Japanese releases were still relatively scarce in Western collections. The set's moody aesthetic and competitive cards made it instantly iconic among serious players and collectors alike. Giovanni's Meowth captures one of the franchise's most memorable characters. As the pampered Pokémon of Team Rocket's boss, Meowth carries distinct appeal for fans of both the villain and the species itself. The artwork presents this beloved character in a way that resonates with collectors seeking cards that blend character significance with solid gameplay history from the TCG's most formative years.
