Pokémon Expedition Base Set arrived in 2002 during the franchise's resurgence in the Trading Card Game. This era captured renewed collector enthusiasm following the original boom's fade, introducing updated mechanics and artwork that bridged nostalgia with contemporary design. Expedition remains a landmark set for players and collectors seeking that sweet spot between accessibility and significance in early 2000s Pokémon TCG history. Houndour represents the Dark-type appeal that defined much of Expedition's aesthetic. The card's artwork captures the character's menacing charm, making it a natural target for type specialists and fans of Pokémon's cooler, edgier designs. Collectors appreciate it both as part of the set's comprehensive Pokédex representation and as a standalone piece of that era's visual identity.
