Fossil was the fourth major expansion released during Pokémon Trading Card Game's explosive 1999 debut year. The set captured the franchise's momentum while introducing fossil-themed Pokémon and mechanics that deepened the game's strategic complexity. Fossil stands as a cornerstone of first-edition collecting, representing the era when Pokémon cards transitioned from novelty to serious hobby staple. Tentacruel represents the aquatic diversity collectors valued in early sets. Its artwork embodies the distinctive illustration style of Fossil, with bold linework and striking color that made Stage 2 Pokémon particularly sought after. Tentacruel carries the appeal of evolution cards, which have always attracted players and collectors building complete evolutionary lines.
