Fossil was the third expansion set released for the Pokémon Trading Card Game in 1999, arriving during the hobby's explosive early growth. The set drew its theme from prehistoric Pokémon and fossils, introducing memorable cards that became cornerstones of collections. Fossil maintained the quality standards established by Base Set and Jungle while offering fresh artwork and strategic gameplay options that kept competitive play engaging. Cloyster represents the evolution line central to water-type strategies from this era. Collectors appreciate this card for its detailed illustration of the armored mollusk and its role in constructed decks throughout the early competitive scene. As part of Fossil's enduring legacy, Cloyster remains a recognizable piece of first-generation Pokémon card history.
