Ruby & Sapphire arrived in 2003 as the first English set to feature Pokémon from Generation III, marking a significant milestone for the Trading Card Game. This era represented a bridge between the original Wizards of the Coast productions and the modern TCG format, introducing new mechanics and the iconic "EX" designation that would define competitive play for years to come. The set remains a cornerstone for collectors seeking that crucial early 2000s period. Skitty represents the charming, accessible side of the EX era—a Pokémon that appeals to players and collectors alike with its playful personality. This kitten-inspired creature became a fan favorite, and early prints from Ruby & Sapphire capture the artistry that defined the set's visual identity. Collectors value these cards as nostalgic touchstones from a transformative moment in the hobby's history.
