Pokemon Gym Heroes arrived in 2000 as one of the most celebrated releases in the Trading Card Game's early years. This set introduced the Gym Leader mechanic and featured iconic trainers like Brock, Misty, and Erika as central characters. Gym Heroes stands as a cornerstone of late-90s Pokemon collecting, bridging the Base Set era with the game's expanding competitive landscape and cementing the TCG's mainstream appeal. Brock's Lickitung captures the Gym Leader in his element, pairing this unusual Rock-type trainer with his Poison-type Pokemon. The card showcases the personality-driven artwork that made Gym Heroes special, blending character development with gameplay strategy. Collectors appreciate cards featuring these early trainer pairings as defining representations of Pokemon's Golden Age.
