Obsidian Flames arrived in 2023 as part of Pokémon TCG's Scarlet & Violet era, marking a continued evolution of the modern game with fresh mechanics and artwork. The set's cosmos holo treatment became a signature visual feature, offering collectors an alternative aesthetic to traditional holography. This period represented renewed collecting enthusiasm as the TCG stabilized after years of unprecedented demand. Larvitar, the rock-type Pokémon known for consuming entire mountains, appears here with the distinctive cosmos holo pattern that defined this release. Collectors appreciate this early-stage Pokémon for its foundational role in the Pokédex and the appeal of cosmos holos across popular evolutionary lines. The card captures interest among both set collectors and those building Larvitar collections.
