Unlicensed Sanrio trading cards emerged in the early 2020s as collectors discovered charming, officially unauthorized releases celebrating beloved characters from the Japanese character brand. These sets operated outside traditional licensing channels, creating a niche collecting category that appealed to fans of both Sanrio properties and alternative trading card culture. The 2024 releases represent a peak period for these cards' popularity among community collectors. Pompompurin, the golden puppy character, appears here in artwork that captures his characteristic cheerful personality and distinctive design. Collectors are drawn to Sanrio character cards for their nostalgic appeal and the playful aesthetic these unlicensed sets bring to the hobby. This card represents the intersection of character fandom and trading card collecting that continues to resonate with enthusiasts worldwide.
