Team Rocket Returns marked a significant moment in the Pokémon TCG's history, bringing the iconic villains back to the forefront after their original debut in the late 1990s. Released in 2004, this set captured collectors' imaginations by reintroducing corrupted, darker versions of familiar Pokémon. The set remains a cornerstone of early 2000s collecting, representing the franchise's willingness to explore morally complex storylines through gameplay and card design. Dark Dragonair exemplifies the set's core appeal—a beloved evolution line reimagined under Team Rocket's influence. The card's artwork presents Dragonair in an ominous, menacing form that contrasts sharply with its traditional portrayal. Collectors are drawn to Dark Pokémon cards for their distinctive aesthetic and the nostalgic connection they represent to a pivotal era of the trading card game.
