Fleer Marvel OverPower was a strategic card game released in 1995 that challenged the dominance of Magic: The Gathering during the mid-90s trading card boom. The game featured Marvel characters as playable units with unique abilities and stats. Though it ultimately couldn't sustain long-term competition, OverPower remains a nostalgic touchstone for collectors who remember the era's experimental approach to licensed card games and Marvel's expanding presence in the hobby. Professor X appears as a key character in this set, representing one of Marvel's most iconic mutant leaders. The X-Men's prominence in 1995 pop culture—driven by the animated series and growing comic popularity—made characters like Professor X natural inclusions for collectors building competitive decks. His strategic importance in the game mechanics adds to the appeal for those seeking complete team rosters or X-Men-focused collections.
