Gym Challenge arrived in 1999 as the fourth set of Pokémon's English trading card game, introducing the memorable Gym Leader theme where trainers like Sabrina featured prominently. This set marked an important moment in the hobby's early boom, when Pokémon cards shifted toward strategic gameplay while maintaining strong collectibility. First Edition printings from this era have become foundational to the hobby's history. Sabrina's Gastly captures the Psychic gym leader's darker side through her Ghost-type companion. The card represents a key character pairing from the Gym Challenge set that collectors have long appreciated for both its gameplay role and its connection to the Pokémon anime's memorable Sabrina character. Trainer cards featuring specific gym leaders remain popular with players and collectors alike.
