Topps Garbage Pail Kids: Book Worms brought the irreverent humor of the classic GPK franchise into the literary world, releasing during a period when the brand was experiencing a significant revival among both nostalgic collectors and newcomers. This 2022 set paired iconic characters and storylines with twisted takes on beloved books and authors, capturing the sensibility that made Garbage Pail Kids a cultural phenomenon since their debut in the 1980s. Radical Rapunzel subverts the fairy tale princess with characteristic GPK irreverence, taking the classic Disney character and reimagining her through the lens of parody. The "b" version offers an alternate take on this particular gag, giving collectors the choice between parallel designs—a collecting tradition core to the GPK experience. Fans of both the franchise and literary satire gravitate toward cards like this one that blend pop culture with unexpected humor.
