Topps Garbage Pail Kids returned to trading cards in 2022 with the Book Worms series, marking a significant revival of the irreverent franchise that originally defined 1980s pop culture rebellion. This release proved the enduring appeal of GPK's crude humor and clever parody titles, demonstrating that collectors still embrace the brand's satirical take on children's media and everyday absurdities. The Book Worms set continued the tradition of pairing recognizable concepts with outrageous twists. Sharing Shel exemplifies the set's playful wordplay, riffing on beloved children's literature with GPK's signature grotesque humor. The card captures what makes the franchise memorable: taking innocent, iconic subjects and transforming them into something delightfully ridiculous. Collectors appreciate these parody cards for their clever titles and artwork that balance nostalgia with irreverence.
