Topps Garbage Pail Kids: Book Worms marked a playful intersection of two collecting worlds—the enduring GPK brand and literary culture. Released in 2022, this set continued the franchise's tradition of irreverent humor applied to famous book characters and authors. The Book Worms series exemplified how Garbage Pail Kids remained culturally relevant decades after its 1985 debut, adapting to contemporary interests while maintaining the parody sensibility that made it iconic. Hungry Katniss reimagines the protagonist from The Hunger Games through the GPK lens, combining recognizable source material with the brand's signature comedic grotesquerie. These literary parody cards appeal to collectors who appreciate both the original franchises being parodied and the artistry of subversive humor. The intersection of mainstream fiction and cult card collecting made Book Worms entries particularly sought-after among diverse collector demographics.
