Garbage Pail Kids debuted in 1985 as Topps' irreverent answer to the wholesome Cabbage Patch Kids phenomenon. The series became a cultural sensation, with kids trading crude, funny parody cards featuring fictional characters with outrageous names and scenarios. GPK shattered conventions for trading cards and spawned decades of releases, establishing itself as a cornerstone of 80s pop culture and a gateway into serious card collecting for many enthusiasts. Spacey Stacy captures the series' signature humor with its space-themed artwork and absurdist character premise. The 13b designation indicates this is the second version of card 13 in the original series, reflecting GPK's common practice of releasing variant designs. Collectors prize early series cards like this one for their cultural significance and as foundational pieces of the hobby's irreverent origins.
