Garbage Pail Kids exploded onto the trading card scene in 1985 and became a cultural phenomenon that challenged what cards could be. Topps' irreverent parody series spoofed mainstream collectibles with crude humor and absurdist artwork, captivating kids and driving parents to distraction. The 1987 release represented the franchise at peak popularity, when demand for new series remained insatiable and the brand's satirical edge had yet to dull. Miles Smiles showcases the series' signature style: a recognizable figure transformed through grotesque reimagining and a clever play on words. The artwork captures the lo-fi aesthetic and darkly comedic sensibility that defined the set's appeal. Collectors seek these cards both for nostalgia and as artifacts of a uniquely 1980s moment when irreverence and parody found their way into childhood collecting.
