Comic Images' 1992 Silver Surfer set captured the character's enduring appeal during a period when Marvel's cosmic heroes enjoyed renewed collector interest. Released as a non-sport trading card series, it represented the hobby's expansion beyond traditional sports cards into entertainment properties. The set remains notable for bringing quality artwork and serialized storytelling to comic-themed collectibles during the early 1990s trading card boom.
