The Gengar VMAX High-Class Deck represented a significant release during Japan's 2021 Pokemon TCG boom, when premium products became increasingly sought after by collectors worldwide. These themed decks paired playable competitive cards with special holofoil treatments, capturing the era when Japanese releases often featured distinct aesthetics compared to their English counterparts. The set became emblematic of the height of Pokemon card collecting interest. Houndoom's inclusion in this deck appealed to collectors drawn to classic Pokemon with strong visual presence. The holofoil treatment on this Japanese version creates distinctive sparkle and depth that English versions lack, making it a particular target for those building complete Japanese collections or pursuing specific Pokemon across regional variants.
