The Team Rocket set marked a pivotal moment in Pokémon TCG history as the first expansion to embrace the franchise's villainous side. Released in 2000, it introduced darker themes and reverse holos that captivated collectors seeking something beyond the core sets. The set became iconic for its fresh energy and remains one of the most sought-after releases from Pokémon's formative competitive era. Machop represents the foundational appeal of Team Rocket—recognizable Pokémon reimagined through a villainous lens. As a first edition copy, this card captures the set's original run before subsequent printings diluted its scarcity. Collectors value early Machop cards for their connection to both the expansion's legacy and the character's enduring presence across generations.
