The 2022 Garbage Pail Kids Book Worms set brought the iconic parody brand back to its satirical roots with literary and academic themes. Released during a renaissance of GPK collecting, this set captured the irreverent humor that defined the original 1980s phenomenon while introducing the franchise to new generations of card enthusiasts. Book Worms stands as a notable example of how Topps sustained GPK's legacy through thematic creativity and nostalgia-driven design. Hitchhiking Harvey, card 36a, presents a darkly comedic take on classic literature and travel stories. The card's artwork transforms familiar tropes into Garbage Pail Kids' signature grotesque humor. Collectors appreciate this entry for its clever visual wordplay and its place within the set's broader literary parody concept, making it a recognizable highlight for both longtime GPK fans and those drawn to the set's specific thematic focus.
