The 2022 Topps Garbage Pail Kids Book Worms set brought the irreverent humor of the long-running GPK franchise into the literary world, spoofing famous authors and literary characters with the series' signature grotesque illustrations. Released during the trading card hobby's resurgence, this set appealed to both longtime GPK collectors and newcomers discovering the brand's anarchic appeal. The series demonstrated how GPK remained culturally relevant decades after its 1985 debut. Vera La France offers the series' trademark wordplay and dark comedy through its literary parody. Collectors seek out individual cards from Book Worms for the clever concept execution and distinctive artwork that defines the Garbage Pail Kids aesthetic. Each card in the set captures that balance of crude humor and imaginative design that keeps the franchise engaging across generations.
