Garbage Pail Kids experienced a remarkable resurgence in the 2020s as collectors rediscovered the brand's irreverent humor and artistic tradition. The 2023 Topps release continued this revival, blending nostalgic appeal with contemporary design sensibilities. The set captured the spirit that made GPK a cultural phenomenon since its 1985 debut—transgressive, clever parody trading cards that challenged collectible conventions and delighted in absurdist comedy. Hector Collector exemplifies the series' playful approach to subverting everyday concepts through crude, humorous artwork and pun-based naming. The card's subject and visual treatment showcase the creative irreverence collectors value in the brand. These cards remain sought after for their entertainment value, artistic merit, and the devoted community surrounding this uniquely American collectible tradition.
